Privacy Policy

Effective October 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information World Trivia uses, why, and the choices

you have. World Trivia keeps your information to a minimum: there is no account to

create, and the app never asks for your name or email address.

Who we are

World Trivia (the “app”) is a trivia app for Roku streaming devices. It is developed and operated by

kennpain (“we”, “us” or “our”), an independent developer based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

kennpain is responsible for the personal information described in this policy and can be reached at

theapproku@gmail.com.

This policy covers the World Trivia app, the World Trivia Plus subscription and the World Trivia

website. It does not cover Roku’s own services or the services of advertising partners. Their own

privacy policies apply to them, as explained below.

Information saved on your Roku device

World Trivia saves a small amount of information in the app’s private storage on your Roku device. This

information stays on your device. It is not sent to us, and we cannot see it.

• Your settings: question, answer and explanation times, Autoplay, sound effects, difficulty,

category, theme, appearance (dark or light) and theme effects.

• Recently shown questions: the identification numbers of up to 800 recently shown questions, so

that a new session starts with questions you haven’t seen lately.

• Subscription status: whether World Trivia Plus is active, which plan you have, its renewal or end

date, and when the status was last checked. This lets the app keep your subscription working when

your Roku is briefly offline.

You can reset your settings at any time with Settings > Reset to Defaults. Removing World Trivia from

your Roku device deletes all of this information.

All trivia questions are built into the app. The app does not track which answers you knew, and it does

not send your viewing or playing activity to us.

Information we receive

Subscription and purchase records. World Trivia Plus is sold through Roku Pay, Roku’s payment

service. When you subscribe, renew, change plans, restore purchases or open the app, the app asks

Roku whether World Trivia Plus is active on your Roku account. Roku provides transaction information

to the app and to us through Roku’s developer reports. This can include the product purchased, a

transaction identifier, the purchase, renewal and end dates, the price and currency, your country or

region, whether a free trial was used, and the status of your subscription (for example active, in a

payment grace period, on hold or cancelled). We use this information only to provide the subscription,

handle payment problems, keep business and tax records, and answer your questions.

Roku processes your payment. We never receive your payment card number or bank details. World

Trivia does not ask Roku to share your name, email address, phone number or postal address with us.

Aggregate statistics from Roku. Roku gives app developers summary reports, such as numbers of

installs, usage time, sales and advertising performance. These reports are statistics and do not identify

you.

Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything

you choose to include. We use these only to answer you and to improve World Trivia.

Advertising in the free version

The free version of World Trivia shows short ad breaks between questions. Ads are requested and

shown through the Roku Advertising Framework, from Roku’s advertising service and, where we work

with them, from third-party advertising partners. To choose, deliver and measure ads, Roku and these

partners may collect information from your Roku device, such as:

• your Roku advertising identifier (a resettable ID created by Roku for advertising)

• your IP address and the approximate location that can be derived from it

• your device type, model, operating system and language settings

• the app name and general type of content (World Trivia, general variety)

• information about the ads themselves, such as whether an ad was shown and watched to the end

Ad measurement services that work with Roku (for example Nielsen or Comscore) may also measure

ad audiences. Roku, its advertising partners and these measurement services use this information

under their own privacy policies. We do not receive information from them that identifies you.

Your choices. On your Roku, go to Settings > Privacy > Advertising. There you can turn off

“Personalize ads” so ads are not based on your interests, or reset your advertising ID. Subscribing to

World Trivia Plus removes ads from World Trivia completely.

How we use information

• to run World Trivia and remember your settings on your device

• to provide World Trivia Plus: confirming your subscription, removing ads, unlocking Country Trivia,

and helping you fix a failed renewal payment

• to show ads in the free version

• to answer your messages and support requests

• to understand how World Trivia is used as a whole, using Roku’s aggregate reports, so we can

improve it

• to keep financial records and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations

• to prevent fraud and misuse, and to protect our rights and the rights of others

Where the law of your country requires a legal basis for using personal information (for example in the

European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), we rely on: performing our contract with you (the

subscription and the app); our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving World Trivia; your

consent, where required (for example for personalized advertising, which you control in your Roku

settings); and complying with our legal obligations.

When information is shared

• Roku: Roku operates the Roku platform, the Roku Pay payment service and the Roku Advertising

Framework. Roku’s Privacy Policy explains how Roku handles your information.

• Advertising and measurement partners: in the free version only, as described in “Advertising in the

free version”.

• Service providers: our email provider stores the messages you send us.

• Legal reasons: when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or to protect the rights,

property or safety of our users, the public or us.

• Business transfers: if World Trivia is sold or transferred, the information we hold may move to the

new owner. This policy, or one at least as protective, will continue to apply.

We do not sell personal information for money. Under some laws, such as California’s, letting

advertising partners use device information for personalized ads can count as “selling” or “sharing”

personal information. You can opt out at any time by turning off “Personalize ads” on your Roku, or by

contacting us.

Children

World Trivia is made for a general audience. It includes a Kids category of family-friendly questions

that families can enjoy together, but the app is not directed primarily at children under 13 (or the

minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Subscriptions must be bought by the adult who owns the Roku account.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, contact us. We

will delete it.

How long we keep information

• Information on your Roku device: until you change or reset it, or remove World Trivia.

• Subscription and purchase records: as long as your subscription is active, then as long as tax and

accounting laws require (generally six years in Canada).

• Support emails: as long as needed to resolve your request, and then for up to 24 months unless the

law requires longer.

Security

World Trivia has no accounts or passwords that could be stolen, and Roku processes all payments. We

protect the information we hold, such as support emails, with reasonable safeguards, including

two-step sign-in on our accounts. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we

work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a breach where the law

requires it.

Where information is processed

We are based in Canada. Roku, our email provider and advertising partners may process information in

the United States and other countries, whose privacy laws may differ from those where you live. Where

the law requires, these transfers rely on appropriate safeguards, such as contractual protections.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy

• ask us to correct or delete it

• object to or limit how we use it, and withdraw consent you gave earlier

• opt out of personalized advertising (on your Roku: Settings > Privacy > Advertising)

• receive your information in a portable format

• not be treated unfairly for using your privacy rights

To make a request, email theapproku@gmail.com. We will reply within 30 days, or sooner if your local

law requires it. We may ask for information to confirm the request is yours. Because World Trivia keeps

most information on your device and Roku holds your account and payment details, some requests are

best sent to Roku. We will tell you when that is the case.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to a privacy authority. In Canada, that is the

Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Alberta, the Office of the Information and Privacy

Commissioner of Alberta. In the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, it is your local data

protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as World Trivia changes or as laws change. The effective date at the top

shows when it was last updated. If a change is significant, we will give notice on the World Trivia

website or in the app before the change takes effect.
